Permanent Residencies in Kuwait?
June 19th, 2008There is talk that MOI is studying a proposal to provide “pemanent residency” to some bedoons and expatriates living in Kuwait. There are many who deserve citizenship, yet the government is trying to control who is awarded the Kuwaiti passport. There are no guidelines or conditions yet about this, it is simply an “idea being studied”. There are over 2 million expats and bedoons in Kuwait, of which many have lived here for Decades; one of those is my dad who has been here since 1961… 47 years!! Fathers of friends of mine have been here as long and longer. Ofcourse, how long they been in Kuwait should not be the decision maker, but how they contributed to the Kuwaiti economy and society. Though having the citizenship would be better, a permanent residency for those who deserve it could help solve many issues. {Read more on this}
