Kuwait: Highest % Female Labor Force in Middle East
January 23rd, 2008Apparently, Kuwait is the leading Arab country in terms of percetage of the female working force reaching 42% in 2006 (37% in 2003); since then I am sure it has risen to over 50%. Most working women, who are university graduates, are concentrated in the public sector. Female employees account for 45% of all staff in administrative professions, 24% in teaching and just 4% in medicine and science. Even though numbers are rising, the diversification is very limited compared to other Arab countries. As for unemployment, percentages of 2006 reflected 5.2% amongst the females and 2.7% amongst the males. {Read more on Daily Star}
