Railway Project in Kuwait

October 31st, 2007

Transportation is becoming a major problem in Kuwait as the number of cars are rapidly growing, be it taxis, buses, company cars, or personal cars.  Traffic jams are becoming intolerable to an extent that many people would rather stay indoors than go out and get stuck in traffic.  The railway system project has been under study for quite sometime now, and was mainly all talk until recently when the planning sector referred the project to the ministry of finance .  Estimated cost for this project will be KD 510 million (Kd 350 million for the underground phase and KD 160 million for the on-ground phase).  The project will be 32 kilometers long wiith 30 ground stops and 100 underground stops. {Read more on Kuwait Times}

This will definitely take years and years to complete but once it is done, am sure it will solve a lot of problems.  Personally, I would have no problem using this system cos I know it will be cheaper and more time efficient, and definitely less stressful.

    hehehehe by the time they are done with it and the project is complete, we will have cars that fly heheheheheheh

    The folks at NASA have built something called “The Highway in the Sky.” It’s a computer system designed to let millions of people fly whenever they please, and take off and land from wherever they please, in their very own vehicles.

    I believe the solution is to convert to canniblisim, this way we have controls of population expansion.

    I heard about a smilier project in which all the Gulf countries chipped in. Apparently, this joined-railroad project will run through all the Gulf countries and it will stop in the most prominent cities.

    Regardless, this one seems a cool project and hopefully it will help maintain a good trafficking record in the country…but I really doubt.

    Actually, the solution is to eliminate all those pesky taxis that are always clogging up the roads with their accidents! And while we’re at it, why not consider using smaller buses in the Capital…and i’m not even going to talk about why we have THREE bus companies either!!

    We need it now! I would take a fast train to get downtown! I hate the traffic gridlock!

    oh God, do we need more pollution and more wasted electricity??

    I think it would be better if they made special lanes just for buses like the ones in San Fransisco, and in Geneva. The ones with the wires on top?

    Great idea on paper.

    But do you guys think that you will live long enough to see that project alive!!

    Let’s face it, the KD 510 mil will be nearly doubled with repetitive changing “amending” orders on the contract, and all the cash will flow into one of the big muscles pockets. Meanwhile there is no chance to guarantee a commitment to the deadline.

    Most probably the project will be placed on hold till one of the beneficiaries pulls the right strings into his way, and if this project is done, I’m afraid that the it shall has many flaws with minor short perspectives.

    I’d love to see such thing happens, only if wishes could come true.
