Gonna miss the old...Cavemen Still Exist

Yesterday on the news I heard this really disturbing story about how some people out there twist Islam in a way that makes others view us Muslims as uncivilized and backwards people. This is the story:
A Saudi man comes home after a long day of tiring work and meetings doing his best to put food on the table and give his family the best support available and what does he find??? His wife committing a serious crime!!!! She was cheating on him?!? But the question is with whom? She was sitting there on the couch at HOME watching this talk show on TV where the host was a man, and he had a male guest and they were discusiing political issues. The guy went crazy and said her watching men on TV was just as bad as her cheating on him and against religion…. WHAT?!?!?! …….. And guess what?……………..
He divorced her!!!!!
Won’t be surprised if he clubs her on the head and drags her from her hair into the bedroom every night!
C’mon!! How primitive and close minded can someone get? No wonder people in foreign countries view us Arabs as a backwards society, for Gods sake, I know an American girl who came to Kuwait a while back and she was surprised we had cars!! She wasn’t kidding! She was shocked to see how many Cayennes and Tuaregs there were not to mention the latest Mercedes… cars she would only see in Beverly Hills - like places! Too bad it is those that give the wrong impression of Arabs that reach the outside countries.

I agree with you… I heard about it too today morning!
What’s Islam got to do with it? This case is about a Saudi man in Saudi Arabia.
Islam and Saudi culture are two different things (apparently), and with the absence of proper representatives of Islam (i.e. bearded fanatics who do NOT consider non-muslims as condemned to hell!)or the Middle Ease (i.e. NOT AL Jazeera!) there will never be a clear line of distinction!
At least something good came from this story: he divorced her!
I’m sure he didn’t want her to see hansome, eloquent and presentable guys on TV. Because that would only show her how yucky her man is.
I guess I have to agree with Aggs dear; What happens in KSA is different & this incident cannot be used to generalize speculations about Islam… its their traditions & crazy ass strict culture..
Aggressor. what do u mean what does islam have to do with it? it is how that guy practices islam as i mentioned above he “twists islam” and practices it in his own way only to look like a psycho. Those bearded fanatics are extremists and it is their ideologies that are causing problems, they may belive what they want but they can not force people to follow.

Chika. am not generalizing… am saying there are many of those, whether in Saudi or Kuwait or otherwise.. but do u hear news about a Kuwaiti or Saudi guy who married an American woman for example that may show how open Arabs are?? No…. u only hear stories like this on the news which makes foreigners think we are uncivilized.
I heard about this story today! Man that is so shocking! It’s so stupid!! How could people be so stone-headed??

My husband still makes jokes about the guy who climbed in my car and made me give him my number! And another woman gets divorced because she looked at a man on TV??
I’m going to tell my husband about this story!!! Maybe he’ll start thinking how a man should act with his wife!!!
