Ramadan Crazed Traffic

I actually forgot how insane people get with driving during Ramadan. And I was actually thinking that with less working hours, work would be a picnic. It was crazy getting to work today!! I got into my car, put in a chill-out CD, and began driving to work. First, there was the school in front of my house with dozens of kids everywhere not to mention those sitting on my car, for some reason they like sitting on my car, maybe its cos its one of the few that is always washed and clean. You had three lanes of cars jamming a two lane street which then feeds into a one lane street that leads to the fourth ring road. This short streetch of asphalt actually has three schools on it!! Anyway, it took over 30 mins to get out of Hawally and on the 4th Ring Road cos of the traffic.

When I finally got on it, I thought the traffice would be less….. it got worse. All the people are just sitting behind their steering wheels and letting the car roll and forgetting that they are not the only ones on the road. Hungry, thirsty, and dehydrated from the heat.. everyone is driving Miss Daisy style and causing so much slow moving traffic. Seriously, its not enough that people not even qualified to ride a donkey are given driving licenses, fasting makes them dumber and even more useless drivers. The traffic was insane today.

After a LOT of patience and listening to pretty much the whole CD, I finally got to work after 1 hour and 15 minutes of this crazy traffic that could drive the Ghandi nuts!! Gotta leave earlier from now on, but for some reason I am loving sleeping more than ever during Ramadan!

    chikappapi. lol its in hawally :) dont even want to think bout salmiya! i know how u feel, crazy people on the streets thinking they are the only ones!!

    Every one is complaining about the Ramadan traffic in the gulf! Why is that man? I don’t remember that it was that bad 10 years ago!!?? And I’m happy we don’t have it here either! :P

    10 years ago there wasnt 3 million people living in the same area that existed 10 years ago ;) and at the time people knew how to drive, now idiots are given licenses!

    i go thru dis nitemare every day…. coz i live in riyadh n belive me its million times worse over here thn in kuwait…drivers all over da world go crazy in ramadan i hav seen it in pakistan,saudiarabia n egypt im sure its da same in other countries 2…da worse part iz dat u cant smoke or drink whn u r stuck in dis traffic or else ppl around u will kill u.
