Gonna miss the old...My Blog Was Hacked

Last night when I got back home I did what I usually do before sleeping, check out my blog for any comments or other activity so I can reply back. But when I loaded my blog, all I got was a blank page!! I kept refreshing, still nothing; had friends check it out too, still nothing. I spoke to Ananyah, who orginally designed the blog, and after snooping around found that my whole blog them was deleted!!!! Yeap, someone hacked into my wordpress account and deleted the whole theme, but not the posts. Luckily, Ananyah had a backup of the theme on her computer and was able to upload the theme again and get me back my blog. I had not changed the password since the blog was created; well, now be sure I will be changing it more often!
On a personal note: The idea of seeing a blank page when I loaded my blog freaked me out. I didnt know how much my blog meant to me until I felt like I lost it. I could feel my face turning pale (dunno how, just did). Just as they say about those who keep a diary how it is a part of them, blogs are a part of each and every blogger. Even if you post once a year, it is still your blog. Be careful guys, change your password regularly.

i tried viewing your page.. that blank page frustrated me.. i can imagine what it did to you hehe
hehe lets just say, i dont wish that feeling for any other blogger
why would someone just delete the theme, maybe it was a server error or something.
if i am a hacker, and tried to ruin someone’s blog, I’d delete the whole thing, not to go to the themes folder and delete that. (come to think of it, if the database is not deleted, all the posts would still be saved, its the theme, pics, and plugins that would be lost)
i dont believe it was done by someone, hmmm maybe ananyah, but not a hacker
oh and yeah, back up your blog every week or so, ur first backup should be a full one, then every week just backup the wp-contents folder and the database, you should be set with that, even if something bad happens.

Fonzy I was freaked out when u sms’d me lastnite, actually more confused as 2 why u no longer had a theme folder. Today Im still confused! But at least I keep backups of my designs
Yes blogs are special & when mine got hacked several times, it was as I lost a baby!

Elijah, not sure… because blogger is a free tool run by google… so they’ll have tons of protection.
In the earlier wordpress design, there were bugs and holes that made it easier for hackers, same with using greymatter. I had my site hacked using wordpress a few times, but the person only deleted the theme as well :S but I didnt have a backup of it, so I had to start fresh.
When I was using greymatter, someone hacked my entire blog and deleted 3 yrs of archives which pissed me off

intlxpatr. changing the password definitely helps. think about it this way… if u have a 3 digit code and someone tries all combinations from 0 to 999 and by the first week he gets to 600 then u change it to 100 means he passed it and will never guess it
Intlxpatr, yes changing your password helps, and taking a regular backup. I still have no clue what happened or how it happened.
The only way that they could have got in was by FTP or a bugged PHP file
I think it was even before that because at like 8pm I was trying to check it and I couldn’t get in… But yeah I totally get your feeling.
why don”t you save backups of your blog on a regular basis?
